In 1994, he began honing his skills by practicing with his friends and learning through trial and error. He explored a variety of styles and techniques before settling on his now-renowned hyper-realistic style. In 1997, he opened his first tattoo shop in Lima, Peru, propelling him into a burgeoning career. Alcantara began working alone in his shop as he cultivated his skills, reputation, and clientele before he began collaborating with other artists. His experiences as a graphic designer and his experimentation with various artistic styles and techniques contributed to his artistic versatility as well as distinguishing him from his contemporaries. In 1999 Stefano then opened a second tattoo studio in Fort Lauderdale with his business partners.
